இ.வி. கணேஷ் பாபு -பாரதி, ஆட்டோகிராப், மொழி, சிவகாசி, ஊருக்கு நூறு பேர், அனந்த புரத்துவீடு என முப்பதுக்கும் மேற்பட்ட படங்கள், 500 நாடகங்கள் இயக்கி, நடிப்பு மற்றும் இவர் நடித்த ஒருத்தி படம் உலகம் முழுக்க சர்வதேச திரைப்பட விழாக்களில் கலந்து கொண்டு விருதுகளை குவித்தது என்பதும் குறிப்பிடத்தக்கது.
நடிப்பு, நடிப்பு என நகர்ந்து கொண்டிருந்தவரை திடீரென இழுத்து பிடித்து இயக்கத்திற்குள் இறக்கி விட்டது என்ன? என்றால்,
எனது ஊர் பொன்விளையும் பூமி தஞ்சாவூர். அங்கு நாடகங்கள் எழுதி நடித்து வந்தேன். சினிமாவில் ஒரு இயக்குனராக வலம் வரவே இந்த கனவு தொழிற்சாலையின் வாசல்படி மிதித்தேன்.
‘தென்பாண்டி சிங்கம்” இயக்கிய இளைய பாரதியின் உதவியாளராக சேர்ந்தேன். இயக்கம் குறிக்கோளாக நகர்ந்து கொண்டிருந்தபோது கொஞ்சம் கலரா இருந்ததாலோ என்னவோ நடிக்க கேட்டார்கள். அப்படியே காலம் ஓடிப்போச்சு. இயக்கும் கனவு மட்டும் அடித்தட்டில் கொழுந்துவிட்டு எரிந்துகொண்டு இருந்தது. இதோ என் ‘யமுனா” அந்த கனவை நனவாக்கும் அட்சய பாத்திரமாக என் பயணத்தை தொடங்கி வைத்திருக்கிறது. ‘யமுனா” ரொம்ப கவனமாக பயபக்தியுடன் நான் நெருங்கி இருக்கும் சப்ஜெக்ட்.
ஒரு இயக்குனர் நடிகராவது அவ்வளவு அழுத்தம் இல்லை. ஆனால் ஒரு நடிகன் இயக்கும் பொழுது ஆயிரம் அம்புகள் கூர்தீட்டப்படும் என்பது தெரியும். ஆனால் வேகமாக நகர்வதும், இயங்குவதும் சினிமாவில் மிக முக்கியம். கவனமாகத்தான் கால் வைக்கிறேன். இன்றைய சமூக அவலம் தான் என் கதைக்கரு. உணவு, உடை, கல்வி, மருத்துவம் இந்த அடிப்படை தேவைகள் கிடைக்காமல் வாழும் மக்கள் ஏராளம் ஆட்டு மந்தைகள் மாதிரி சில உடன்படாத, உடன்படக்கூடாத விஷயங்களுக்குக்கூட உடன்பட்டு தலையாட்டும் நிலைக்கு தள்ளப்பட்டு நிற்கிறார்கள். அந்த அடிப்படை தேவைகள் அவர்களுக்கு முக்கியம் என்பதால் அதை பூர்த்தி செய்யும் நபர்கள் யாராக இருந்தாலும் அவர்கள் பக்கம் சாயவும் தயாராக இருக்கிறார்கள் என்பது வேதனையான உண்மை. அப்படி சாயும் மக்களை
தங்களுக்கு சாதகமாக பயன்படுத்தி கொள்கிறது ஒரு கூட்டம்…..
அந்த கூட்டம் சமூக நியாயங்களுக்கு எதிராக சாயும் பொழுது மக்களுக்கும் ஹீரோவுக்கும் இடையே நடக்கிற ஒரு சமூக நலயுத்தம்தான் என் ‘யமுனா”. ரொம்ப அழுத்தமான விஷயமாக எடுத்திருந்தாலும் அதை கையாளும் விதத்தில் காமெடி, கமர்ஷியல் என ஜாலியாக, வெகுஜனமக்களை சுண்டி இழுக்கும் சூழ்ச்சியோடு திரைக்கதையை நெய்திருக்கிறேன். அதில் இழையோடிருக்கும் காதல் படத்தின் ஹைலைட்.
இயக்குனர் பாலுமகேந்திரா சினிமா பட்டறை வார்த்தெடுத்த மாணவன் ‘சத்யா”தான் என் ஹீரோ. அந்த பட்டறையிலிருந்து வெளிவந்து ஹீரோவாகும் முதல் நபர் என் ‘சத்யா”.
ஹீரோயின் ஸ்ரீரம்யா தேசிய விருது பெற்ற ‘1940லோ ஒக்ககிராமம்” என்ற படத்தின் நாயகி. முதல் படத்திலேயே தைரியமாக மொட்டையடித்து நடித்து ஆந்திராவின் உயரிய விருதான நந்தி விருதை பெற்றவர்.
சல்சா, சாம்பா, பரதநாட்டியங்களில் இவர் புலி. என் படத்தில் நிறைய வேலை இருப்பதால், ஸ்ரீ ரம்யா தான் சரி என்று அழைத்து வருகிறோம் தமிழுக்கு. ‘எங்கேயும் எப்போதும்” படத்தின் அனன்யாவுக்கு ஆனந்தி அக்காவாக கலக்கிய வினோதினி, நரேன் (ஆடுகளம்) நண்பன், சாம்ஸ் (பயணம்) தவிர சில முக்கிய முன்னணி நடிகர்களும் திரையை அலங்கரிக்க.
படத்தின் ஆறு பாடல்களுக்கும் பொன்வரிகளை தரவிருக்கிறார் கவிப்பேரரசு வைரமுத்து. இன்டர்நேஷனல் லெவலில் நிறைய ஆல்பங்களுக்கு இசையமைத்து கொண்டிருந்த இலக்கியன் இசையமைக்கிறார்.

Actor Ganesh babu turned as Director
Yamuna, the movie is being produced by Srihari Balaji Movies and directed by E V Ganesh Babu. E V Ganesh Babu has acted in more than 30 films including Bharathi, Autograph, Mozhi, Sivakasi, Oorukku Nooruper and Anandhapurathu Veedu. Also he has directed and acted in 500 stage plays. It is notable that his drama Oruthi has won somany international awards.
E V Ganesh Babu replied, when asking what made him to direct though he is being a professional and full actor, “ I am belonging to Tanjore which is known for agriculture. I have written so many dramas and acted as well. After that I entered into Kodambakkam by dreaming to become a film director.
I have join as an assistant director with Ilayabharathi for the film Thenpandi Singam.
My fair complexion forced others to put me into acting though I had the ambition of becoming a director. Years past…became a busy actor… but the fire continued to become a director.
Atlast my dream came true through Yamuna which started my direction career. I considered Yamuna as an Akshaya Paathra. Story and screenplay for Yamuna have been written very carefully by me.
There is no pressure for directors for becoming an actor. But It is fact that one has to face a lot of challenges when an actor becomes a director. But we need to march forward and act fast in cinema industry. I carefully debuted as a director. Yamuna has a strong social issue. Millions of people who are not being provided basic needs like Food, Dress, Education, Medicines and shelters. They forced to accept the things which are really correct or not. Since they are depending others for their basic needs they are ready to follow them blindly. Those people have been used by some selfish groups for their favors.
When the selfish group will act against the welfare of society hero will be forced to do a war. Yamuna describes such a war between hero and the society.
Sri Ramya is the heroine of Yamuna who has acted in National Award winning movie 1940 Lookkagramam. In which movie she shaved her head for the character. Sri Ramya’s daring and dedicating attitude won Andhra’s prestigious Nandhi award.
She is very talented in Salsa, Samba and Bharathanatiyam as well. Since Yamuna has huge opportunities for her to perform well we brought Sri Ramya as heroine.
Other casts including Vinodhini who has acted as sister to Ananya in Engeyum Eppothum, Aadukalam – Nanban Naren,Payanam – Sams and few prominent actors are going to perform in Yamuna.
Kavipperarasu Vairamutu Penned six beautiful songs. Ilakkiyavan who has done many popular international albums will compose the music for Yamuna. Cinematographer of Kanimozhi – Po Chidambaram handles the camera while Lenin and Kadhal Kandhas- Ajay -Gayathri Rahuram take care of Editing and Dance respectively. Production Manager of Yamuna is Su Kalaiselvan.
Shooting of Yamuna will take place in Tanjore, Trichy, Kumbakonam and some parts of foreign countries.
