Sri Lankan Tamils express their heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and the Bharatiya Janata Party on the death of the former Minister of Foreign Affairs Jaswant Singh.
He was a friend of the Sri Lankan Tamils. He cared for their welfare. He along with Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee were keen to restore the dignity and respect of Tamils.
In spite of the ban on the LTTE, Prime Minister Vajpayee wanted his personal envoy to meet Prabhakaran at Vanni. During May 2000, I was asked to get the consent from Prabhakaran to meet his personal envoy. Brajesh Mishra, National Security Advisor, Jana Krishnamoorthy Minister of Justice asked me to reach Prabhakaran to get concurrence for a meeting with the envoy of the Indian PM.
I sought the help and support of Kavignar Kasi Anandan and Pazha Nedumaran. Prabhakaran gave his consent. I told this to Brajesh Mishra.
On June 6th, Foreign Minister Jaswant Singh went to Colombo to meet President Chandrika. It was an unscheduled visit. President Chandrika declined support.
I was asked to convey this to Prabhakaran.
These are cherishable memories for Sri Lankan Tamils of Mr. Jaswant Singh. Your memory shall always be with us.

யசுவந்தர் சிங்கர் (ஜஸ்வந்த் சிங்) காலமானார்.
சம காலத்தவர், ஈழத் தமிழர் பால் அளப்பரிய ஈடுபாடு கொண்டவர். ஈழத் தமிழருக்காகப் பல நற்பணிகள் ஆற்றியவர். 2000 ஆனியில் (யூன்) அவரின் கொழும்புப் பயணம், ஈழத் தமிழருக்கான பயணம்.
அவர் கொழும்புக்குப் பயணமாகுமுன் என்னைப் பிரபாகரனிடம் பேசுமாறு பணித்தவர் பிரதமர் வாச்பாய். நீதி அமைச்சர் சனா கிருட்டிணமூரத்தி. பிரதமரின் தேசிய பாதுகாப்பு ஆலோசகர் பிரசேசு மிர்சா.
2000 மே மாதம் 28ஆம் நாள் நீதி அமைச்சர் சனா கிருட்டிணமூரத்தி அழைத்துத் தில்லி சென்றேன். பிரதமரின் தூதர் இலங்கை வன்னி சென்று பிரபாகரைனச் சந்திக்கப் பிரபாகரனின் ஒப்புதல் பெறுமாறு என்னிடம் கேட்டார்.
கவிஞர் காசி ஆனந்தன், மாவீரர் பழ. நெடுமாறன் உதவினர். யூன் 4ஆம் நாள் அளவில் பிரபாகரனின் ஒப்புதலைப் பெற்றுக் கொடுத்தேன்.
அப்போதைய குடியரசுத் தலைவர் சந்திரிகாவின் ஒப்புதலைப் பெற யூன் 6 அளவில் இந்திய வெளிநாட்டமைச்சராக இருந்த யசுவந்தர் கொழும்பு சென்றார். திடீர்ப் பயணம் என ஊடகங்கள் தெரிவித்தன.
சந்திரிகா ஒப்பவில்லை. யசுவந்தர் வெறுங்கையுடன் திரும்பினார்.
செய்தியை என்னிடம் சொன்ன அமைச்சர் சனா கிருட்டிணமூரத்தி, பிரபாகரனிடமும் தெரிவிக்கச் சொன்னார்.
ஒரே பணி. பிரபாகரனிடம் என் பணி. சந்திரிகாவிடம் யசுவந்தர் பணி.
ஈழத் தமிழர் மீது அளவற்ற ஈடுபாடு கொண்ட யசுவந்தர் மறைந்தார். அவரை இழந்து வாடும் இல்லத்தாருக்கும் பாரதீய சனதாக் கட்சியினருக்கும் ஈழத் தமிழரின் நெஞ்சார்ந்த இரங்கல்.
